In short
- Sunshine Coast Council and the other councils issue the fine. The amount is set by the state, and unpaid ones go to State Penalties Enforcement Registry (SPER).
- $86 for overstaying or not paying, $129 for No Stopping, $690 for a disabled bay.
- You have 28 days to pay, request a review or elect court.
- Request a withdrawal through MyCouncil with evidence within 28 days. Photos of the sign and your paid session are what win a review.

Queensland's Department of Transport and Main Roads says parking fines do not carry demerit points, so demerits are 0.
Post office payment is not available for ParkSmart infringements.
Council has consulted on proposed local law changes that could add lower-cost tiered penalty notices, so amounts could change.
Who fines you
Council parking officers issue notices for local law and road rule parking offences. ParkSmart notices come from number plate recognition monitoring.

If you pay late
28 days to act.
Pay, request a review, nominate the driver, or elect to go to court.
The reminder.
After the deadline a reminder notice arrives with a fee.
Enforcement.
Unpaid infringements past the due date are referred to SPER, a search fee applies and additional fees are added. After referral, all enquiries including payment plans go to SPER on 1300 365 635.
An unpaid $86 overstay keeps growing, and ends with your licence or registration on the line. Pay it, or dispute it, inside the first 28 days.
Disputing a fine
Request a withdrawal through MyCouncil with evidence within 28 days. Council withdraws notices only in extenuating circumstances, and the notice is on hold while it investigates. You can also request a magistrates court hearing by returning the back of the notice.
Reviews that succeed usually have evidence:
- Medical emergency records
- Proof of vehicle breakdown or malfunction
- A witnessed statutory declaration if you were not the person in control of the vehicle
- Proof the vehicle was stolen or sold
Not getting one
- Read the sign where you park, not the one across the road. The time limit runs from when you park, and number plate recognition can record arrival and departure. See how to read Sunshine Coast parking signs.
- Tap I parked here on Rangr Dangr and set a 2P timer. If a neighbour reports an officer near your car, your phone buzzes.
