Who fines you

City of Perth parking officers issue infringements. Other councils use their own rangers.

How to pay

  • Online with the infringement number (bar-coded notice or reminder needed)
  • Through the City of Perth payment page
  • Fines Enforcement Registry once registered: online, BPAY 48249, or 1300 276 468 (24 hours)
  • Late payments are not accepted by the City after the due date

If you pay late

  1. 28 days to act.

Pay, request a review, nominate the driver, or elect to go to court.

  2. The reminder.

After the deadline a reminder notice arrives with a fee.

  3. Enforcement.

If unpaid after 28 days a reminder notice follows, then a final demand 28 days later. The fine is then registered with the Fines Enforcement Registry and extra fees are added. Later steps can include licence suspension, garnishee orders, vehicle immobilisation or seizure of property.

An unpaid $60 overstay keeps growing, and ends with your licence or registration on the line. Pay it, or dispute it, inside the first 28 days.

Disputing a fine

Appeal to the City first, in writing: online Parking Infringement Appeal form, by post to GPO Box C120, or at Council House, 27 St Georges Terrace. Phone appeals are not accepted. If the City rejects it you can ask for a decision in the Magistrates Court. The City's Ombudsman only reviews after the City's own process is finished.

Reviews that succeed usually have evidence:

  • Meter or machine fault with proof
  • Medical emergency with a doctor's letter
  • Vehicle breakdown with a mechanic or roadside report
  • Nominate the real driver within 28 days if it was not you
  • Losing track of time or getting change is not accepted

Not getting one

  • Read the sign where you park, not the one across the road. The time limit starts on arrival. See how to read Perth parking signs.
  • Tap I parked here on Rangr Dangr and set a 2P timer. If a neighbour reports a ranger near your car, your phone buzzes.
